About

Better care starts with better questions

For more than 30 years, Dr. Greg Hall has practiced internal medicine in his hometown of Cleveland. His work centers on a simple observation: clinical guidelines, lab reference ranges, and treatment decisions are often built on data that underrepresent Black patients, and the result is missed diagnoses, less effective treatment, and avoidable harm.

His response is a precision medicine framework that uses ancestry, genetics, environment, and population data to ask better questions, then tailors care to the individual patient. That framework is the foundation of his two Springer Nature textbooks, including Precision Medicine for African Americans, now in its second edition (2025) and used by clinicians across the country.

Dr. Hall has delivered more than 50 national CME presentations through Pri-Med’s “Bridging the Gap” series, with regional conferences in Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Houston, New York, and other cities. He also brings this work to the public through the Better Black Health podcast, Better Black Health TV, and his consumer book Better Black Health.

He serves as President of the Cuyahoga County Board of Health and founded the National Institute for African American Health (NIAAH), a nonprofit that mentors Black pre-medical and medical students, supports research partnerships, and provides consumer health education.

Founder & Board Chair

National Institute for African American Health

Dr. Hall founded NIAAH to mentor future physicians, educate clinicians, and advocate for better health outcomes in the Black community. The nonprofit connects medicine, social science, and community knowledge across the life course, from the classroom to the exam room to the kitchen table.

Its flagship program, NIAAH Scholars, pairs African American pre-med and medical students with African American physicians who guide them through medical school and into practice.
